Megan woke up before her alarm and was ready to go an hour before we needed to even leave the house. Andrew came out of his room earlier than normal as well and just hung out while Megan and I got everything ready.
The kids sat on the couch and watched the minutes tick by and Megan counted them down. They couldn't wait to get out to the corner for their buses.
The original plan from all the bus routes was for Andrew to get picked up first and then Megan 5 minutes later. As we sat and waited along came a bus that pulled up to a different corner than usual. I thought it was not her bus but then Megan recognized some classmates and said "hey Mom that's my bus!!!" We scrambled over to the bus and I checked with the driver. Sure enough it was her bus and it was 5 minutes early. It came at the time Andrew's bus was supposed to be there. All the rest of the parents that usually wait with us missed the bus on the first day of school :{ It was a bit crazy. Let's hope we get that worked out soon.

After Megan was off we waited and waited and waited for Andrew's bus that was supposed to show up at 8:25am. It was 8:50 and still no bus. I don't know about you but for my little guy this is like waiting for hours. I tried calling the bus office and kept getting the answering machine so I finally gave in and decided to drive him as school starts at 9am. As I pulled out of our complex in the rear view mirror I saw his bus coming over the hill. I quickly made a U-turn and met up with the driver. Andrew was grinning from ear to ear and was extremely happy that he got to ride the bus. She promised to try and be on time in the coming days.
I have to say I've been kind of looking forward to having the kids gone at school but really I'm finding the house way to quiet and it is weird. I can't believe both my kids are in full time school. I really think I'm gonna start to get lonely real quick. I better find a hobby fast!!
